The Seventh runs
alongside the Sixth. From a superbly positioned and
elevated tee the ground falls now to the right. The
tee shot must flirt with the trees on the left
dividing the two fairways, or fall away towards the
Twelfth fairway into light rough amid more recently
planted trees, but now the green will be totally
obscured by a group of stately Beech. This is a Par
5, 533 yard dog-leg right onto a reverse two-tier
green. The shot to the green must come in from the
left, but no more than a yard or two off-line will
find the ball in one or other of the greenside
bunkers. An over-hit approach shot will end in the
rough at the back of the green and in the roots of
the tall Pines.
Pro's
Tip
A long par 5 where an accurate tee
shot up the left-hand side is the only way to find the
sloping fairway.
Similarly the second shot must be hit
well to the left to leave a tricky pitch downhill to a
two-tiered green.
But beware - the back tier is
below the front.
