Across the Mill Way road, the climb to the Second
tee - still hugging the old Roman Road through the
avenue of Beech - is breathtaking in more ways than
one. The two shots need accuracy, for trouble lurks
among the trees on Stane Street and in the small
spinneys on the left. It is slightly uphill most of
the way with a bunker at the entrance to the fairway
on the right and two more well placed further along
on the left. The second of these has to be carried
if the drive is to the left of the fairway. Entry
to the green is from the left as there is a deep
grassy pit on the right which readily collects a
loose ball.
Pro's
Tip
A shortish
uphill par 4 that requires an accurate drive to avoid the
bunkers left and right.
The second
shot must be aimed left of the flag as a sloping green
combined with a sheer drop to the right are a recipe for a
double-bogey!
