The Eighteenth is a really superb finishing hole of
377 yards bringing the player back to a green in
front of the terrace and below the Club House. The
drive is downhill with the practice area
out-of-bounds beyond the trees on the right and
woods all along the left. Avoiding fairway bunkers
left and right, the drive must be held up to the
right against the rise of the ground, although too
far over and entry to the green will be barred by a
large Pine tree and a strong Yew hedge. Cross
bunkers short of the green must be carried with the
second shot onto the green which makes a difficult
target having a grassy drop to the left, bunkers
guarding all four corners and Smithells’ Folly on
the right.
Pro's
Tip
A
memorable finishing hole with a view of the clubhouse, but
before a well-deserved drink, the most heavily bunkered hole
on the course must be safely negotiated.
The
fairway slopes from right to left whilst the green is
extremely deep.
Take
plenty of club to give yourself a chance for a finishing
birdie.
